if the book you lost was a novel and its from 1988 how much do they charge you?Library books for sale or u lost?
In the libraries I've worked in, if you lose a book, libraries charge cover price. A hardcover today typically runs about $25 (give or take), but a hardcover in 1988 would have been less. Libraries charge cover price and perhaps a processing fee because they need to replace the book, and even if they can't get that specific copy, they can get something comparable (at least they hope they can).
It's not worth your time/effort to try to find a replacement copy because many times the library cannot or will not take it in exchange; a book that is fine for a home collection will not stand up to library use.
What you can do, if you are sure you can't find it, is go in and talk to the library staff. Sometimes they can reduce the price you have to pay. And NONE of the libraries I have worked at charge the replacement cost AND a fine; it's one or the other. Good Luck!Library books for sale or u lost?
probably $20.oo,,i really don't know
I would ask the library. If it's outrageous. Try buying one used from amazon.com. I got a nice coffee table sized book from the used section for 4.00 shipped!
not much.....books depreciate in value..maybe 2 bucks
You can find a good, free copy here:

It's a 1988 Hardcover.
Hope this helps!
depends on what kind of library it is. But most will ask for replacement value, plus possibly a processing fee that covers the work %26amp; materials needed to put a new copy on the shelf (labels, barcodes, pockets, etc)--consider it like a store's restocking fee.
Fines usually have an upper limit, so they probably won't be a factor.
You'll have to check with the library itself about its policies, since they are not the same across the board.
It depends on the condition the book was in and whether it was hardcover or paperback. The thickness also matters, because that determines the price of the book. It also matters whether the book is overdue and when it was due back. But the older, shorter in size, and less overdue a book is, the cheaper it is. But yes, because of the year, it will be less. So hopefully it was a paperback in bad condition that is only a few days old. When you are fined, you have to pay for the lost book AND the fines because it was late. I'd had to do it, it sucks.
